KytyPS5: the PS5 translation layer for PC

KytyPS5 is the most active PS5 emulation project for Windows, Linux and macOS: a translation layer with dated builds published through GitHub Actions. This page tracks the project itself — releases, commits and what it demonstrably runs.

Checked October 19, 2026 (UTC). All dates UTC.

The name "Kyty" also belongs to two other repositories — the dormant original and the Xbox fork. See our three-repository breakdown before trusting anything named "Kyty".

Release and commit status

Primary GitHub source checked October 19, 2026: KytyPS5/KytyPS5. "Latest release" is what GitHub marks as latest; newer main-branch commits are not necessarily in that release.

Update timeline

Timeline records what primary sources show; earlier history lives in the repository and is summarized here as it is re-verified.

What KytyPS5 actually is

A translation layer rather than a classic emulator: it re-implements PlayStation 5 system interfaces on top of the host operating system instead of emulating console hardware instruction-by-instruction. That approach can be faster when it works, but coverage depends on reimplementing each system interface a game touches.

KytyPS5 descends from InoriRus's original Kyty, which has been dormant since its final commit on October 3, 2022 — the two release histories are separate, and the Xbox build making news is a third repository, Cosmo/KytyPS5. The full comparison lives on the Kyty name breakdown.

What it runs

Per-game, source-backed results are tracked in the compatibility log. The short version: documented boots and renders exist; no verified full playthrough yet. Treat any claim beyond that as unverified.

Where to get it

Only from the verified repository: KytyPS5 releases on GitHub. Before installing, read the system requirements and the compatibility log to see what current builds demonstrably do. For the Xbox fork, see our Xbox notes.
